What, exactly, is a community? One of the most important aspects to consider when purchasing a new home is location. There are many neighborhoods out there, and differentiating one from another can be a difficult task. So how do we define a neighborhood? One way is by taking a thorough look at the community. Merriam-Webster defines a community as “a unified body of individuals”; I like to think of it as the heart of a neighborhood.
Why do people live in Penderbrook?
Penderbrook is a gorgeous neighborhood that was built in the 1980s around its most popular attraction, an 18-hole championship golf course. When I first visited Penderbrook, the natural beauty of the area instantly drew me in, it felt like a respite from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Northern Virginia. Tucked away in the heart of Fairfax, Virginia, Penderbrook is conveniently located within 5 miles of a mall and hospital, and approximately 20 miles away from Washington, D.C. The community is extremely friendly, and it is quite common for smiling neighbors to greet each other while enjoying one of the numerous amenities. The amenities include a large pool, a clubhouse, a fitness center, tennis and basketball courts, and tot lots.
What’s the neighborhood like?
Penderbrook is a golf-course community, and its main feature is its 6151 yardage golf course. There are 1,776 homes throughout seven different land bays, and each land bay has its own style and offers either single family homes, townhomes, or condos. The Greens are where you would find Executive Style Single Family Homes. Find Garden Style Condominiums at The Heights and Oxford House, and Condominiums at Penderbrook Square. Iverness, Mews, and The Fairways are where you would find Townhomes. The Penderbrook Community Association (PCA) manages all of the common facilities of the area. The PCA’s incredible management of the community won the WMCCA’s 2016 Community Association of the Year Award.
